Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd (iconographic type, probably influenced by the pre-Christian prototype of kriophoros, ram-bearer), surrounded by the Biblical scenes, including (top-down, clockwise): Nahash (Serpent of the Garden of Eden) entwining the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Paradise, flanked by Adam and Eve; Jonah resting under the calabash vine; the coiling cynocephalic (dog-headed) bipede aquatic composite monster ketos, just before swallowing and just after disgorging Jonah, thrown from the boat to the sea. |
