Figure NAM-can-066. A representaive of the vanguished side (Milanese and Swiss) presents the victors (French and Venetians) with a shield decorated with undulating biscione (vipera), the heraldic charge and the emblem of Duchy of Milan (inherited from the House of Visconti and shared with the House of Sforza) as a sign of submission after the Battle of Marignano (13-14 September 1515 AD).
